ShockWave Posted June 19, 2003 Report Share Posted June 19, 2003 After upgrading my NT4.0 server to service pack 6a the backup constantly fails. After a reboot retrospect finds the tape and starts backing up and then I get a -203 error. I tried inserting different tapes but the error still exists. From that point on Retrospect is unstable and will not respond back to me. The solution is to reboot the server. Before upgrading to sp6a I never received this error. AmyJ Posted June 23, 2003 Report Share Posted June 23, 2003 Error 203 (hardware failure) is generated by the tape drive itself. Try reinstalling the Service Pack and updating/reinstalling your SCSI card drivers. Files may have become corrupted as a result of the upgrade.
