Error Messages -204 from time to time

From time to time the backup with Retrospect 5.6 fails due to the following error message (in german version):

  onstEndFlush(1): couldn't update header, err -204

  onstEndFlush(2): pos ßxß, eod 0x9b3a5, cap 0xb78e0, extCount 0

  Geräteprobleme: "<<Name of Backup Set>>", Fehler -204 (Gerät ist beschäftigt)<br>

 

The tapedrive used is an Onstream SC50.

 

What can I do about it? Is it an indicator that either the tape or the drive are going to be defective?

I'm having the same problem with Retrospect Windows v6.0 and an OnStream Echo30 ADR:

 

onstEndFlush(1): couldn't update header, err -204

onstEndFlush(2): pos 0x0, eod 0x424bb, cap 0x6d9a8, extCount 0

Device trouble: "4-20030304_ClientsDrives", error -204 (device busy)

 

Happens every 2 weeks and has required a 4 hour tape rebuild each time.
