Tom_Roth
We've recently been doing some video editing on some really huge files. Files sizes between 3 to 9GB. I'm noticing in the Retrospect backup log that these files are not being backed up but the rest of the files on the computer are. I'm seeing this on both of our two video editing Macs. Below is just a section of the backup report from one of them. > MapMacError: unknown macintosh error -1,310 > File "MacHD:Final Cut Pro Documents:Capture Scratch:ExvivoR:G2a recapture": > can't read, error -1002 (unknown Mac OS error) > > MapMacError: unknown macintosh error -1,310 > File "MacHD:Final Cut Pro Documents:Capture Scratch:ExvivoR:G2b recapture": > can't read, error -1002 (unknown Mac OS error) > > MapMacError: unknown macintosh error -1,310 > File "MacHD:Final Cut Pro Documents:Capture Scratch:ExvivoR:G2c recapture": > can't read, error -1002 (unknown Mac OS error) > > MapMacError: unknown macintosh error -1,310 > File "MacHD:Final Cut Pro Documents:Capture Scratch:ExvivoR capture:G1a recapture": > can't read, error -1002 (unknown Mac OS error) > > MapMacError: unknown macintosh error -1,310 > File "MacHD:Final Cut Pro Documents:Capture Scratch:ExvivoR capture:G1b recapture": > can't read, error -1002 (unknown Mac OS error) The client's are QuickSilver G4 Macs running Retrospect Client 4.3 and the backup is running from a Windows 2000 Server with Retrospect 5.6 for Windows. Is there any reason why Retrospect 5.6 can't backup these files?
AmyJ
The 4.3 client and earlier could not backup files greater then 2 gigabytes. You'll need to upgrade to the 5.0 client.
Tom_Roth
Amy, Just this morning I installed the Retrospect Client version 5.0.236 on one of the affected Macs (it is running OS 9.22) and tried to backup just the folder containing the huge video files. About a dozen files between 5-9GB each. I got the same error message from Retrospect 5.6 for Windows. What do I need to do to make this work? A.] Does the Mac have to be booted in OS X for this to work? B.] Do I need to upgrade Retrospect for Windows from 5.6 to 6.0? C.] Both of the above.
