erase problem

I've just installed Retrospect Desktop 5.0 Win on my new computer running Windows 2000. It's backing up to a Jaz 2GB drive on SCSI. The drive works perfectly, will read/write/format etc. I've loaded the latest Iomega drivers. However, Retrospect hangs when trying to erase new disks prior to backup up to a new or old Jaz disk. The drive just keeps going and going, and I have to crash out of Restrospect. I've got two Jaz drives, switched them, same problem. The Jaz drives are not the problem. Any advice out there?
