gracion Posted July 20, 2006 Report Share Posted July 20, 2006 A year after getting a PowerMac G5, I'm still looking for a way to backup to DVD without drive errors (mostly error 204 on the stock DVR-109, so far all 206 on the DVR-111D). I get an error on about 1 out of 4 DVDs used. I've tried: Latest Retrospect software (6.1.126) and driver update (6.1.6.100). OS X updates (10.4.3 through 10.4.7) Various media: Fujifilm DVD+R (almost never worked), TDK DVD+R (seldom worked), TDK DVD-R (works sometimes) Apple's Backup software (that comes with .Mac): 2 out of 4 backup-to-DVD attempts failed - having no error recovery or specific error reporting, a new backup set was required after each failure. Replacing the Apple internal DVR-109 with a Pioneer DVR-111D from OWC. Any suggestions? I'd really like to be able to backup on this system to DVD. I'll try anything within reason.
