mztrbrown Posted January 20, 2006 Report Share Posted January 20, 2006 Backing up 500 g server to external LaCie firewire drive....it appears that the backup goes okay, but during verification the computer freezes.....the kernel panic screen and fans in high gear. Attempting to rebuild catalog results in the same crash. I'm going to downgrade I suppose, this is a brand-new g5 dual 2.3 dual core, again running server 10.4.4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
CallMeDave Posted January 20, 2006 Report Share Posted January 20, 2006 A kernal panic is almost always related in some way to hardware (and/or their associated software drivers). The dump from the kernal panic might yield some answers, but if it confirms, as I suspect, a FireWire issue, you will probably have to use a different external device.
