Express not using full tape drive space

I recently purchased Express to use with my OnStream DI30 tape drive on my WinXP Pro PC. I am having one problem using Express. Although the ADR tapes are supposedly capable of 30 GB, realistically that's not acheivable. So I've been trying to keep my backup's to under 15 GB - the rated uncompressed capacity of the ADR tapes.

The problem I'm having is this - Express seems to only allow me to put about 12.5 GB on an ADR tape, even with the file selection being under 15GB. I just tried running a backup that had 14.5 GB selected. The backup makes it to the 12.5 GB mark and then ejects the tape, requesting another tape that it will name 2-(backup name) to complete the backup.

Is this the threshold for Express backups? If I use MS Backup in XP Pro, it will use the entire 15 GB before prompting for a second tape. I've tried several attempts to backup under 15 GB but more than 12.5 GB, all with the same result - the tape ejects at around the 12.5 GB mark and requests a second to complete.

Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?
