nitai Posted September 1, 2004 Report Share Posted September 1, 2004 Hi all, Since about 4 days now, Retrospect Workgroup Server has the problem that it can see clients on the network (Clients/Preferences) but when running the Backup Server it says that the sources are not available? CallMeDave Posted September 1, 2004 Report Share Posted September 1, 2004 A firewall setting that blocks TCP port 497 but allows UDP traffic on that same port. Retrospect uses UDP for discovery (the list of clients) and TCP for the actual backup. Check your Sharing preference pane. Dave Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
miketrose Posted September 1, 2004 Report Share Posted September 1, 2004 FYI, installing Windows XP service pack 2 will also turn on the built-in firewall and block Retrospect activity (including scanning for clients on the network).
