CallMeDave
Quote: What am I supposed to do? Well, if you're looking to get help from a web based Forum such as this, I'd suggest that you provide complete, detailed information regarding your setup and the steps you're taking. The 2 Gigabyte limit can be seen in a couple of different ways; without knowing exactly what you're doing it's a waste of time to have to guess which it might be. jfreeman
OK, I have a G4 Titanium Powerbook running OS 10.3.x (latest update of Panther). It has an 80 GB drive. It has about 52GB free I have a 120GB fantom firewire drive. I'm trying to backup the entire contents of the hard drive on the powerbook to the fantom firewire drive (catalog and contents). compression off, verification on. this is the version of Retrospect I'm running: Retrospect version 6.0.193 It's paid for and licensed. I don't want to have to separate my HD into separate logical volumes just to back up. If Retrospect is the wrong tool for the job then fine... just tell me. TIA, J. lcastro
I'm having this same problem. I am trying to backup a Powerbook with Retrospect Express 6.0.183 onto an external firewire drive. I get the same "Execution incomplete, Can't add that much data to backup set. The limit is 2.0 G" error. In the Readme, it says that with 6.0 the limit is 1000Gb, so what's the deal? And I'm not sure what other information might be necessary, but if you tell me what you need to know, I'm happy to oblige. Seems like if it says the limit is 1000Gb, it shouldn't then say the limit is 2Gb. I have combed through the manual, the FAQ, and these forums, and there is not a snippet of information about this problem. I'd appreciate any help you can offer. If so, that's your problem, since that file system does not support files larger then 2 Gig (no matter what application attempts to write them). Reformat the drive to HFS+ and you should be good to go. Dave
lcastro
Yup, I reformatted the disk (with Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) and now it works. Didn't see any choice about HFS+. thanks, Liz
