Clarification of how Rules works

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm a newbie and have a few basic questions concerning Rules. I'm working with Retrospect 10.0.1 on a Mac running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion:

1) What is the difference between "Mac Path" and "Unix Path"? Since they both seem to require POSIX paths, wouldn't they behave identically on a Mac?

2) Are search terms case-sensitive? For example, do the terms "/Caches/" and "/caches/" match the same or different targets?

3) What is the difference between "File" and "Folder"? For example, if I search for "File" "Mac Path" "Contains" "/Users/" versus "Folder" "Mac Path" "Contains" "/Users/", wouldn't they match the same targets? Or does the first only match files and latter only match folders?

4) How exactly does "is like" behave? I found a couple of discussions that seem to indicate that it kinda behaves somewhat like a bash globbing.

I apologize for repeating any questions that may have been previously discussed, but I couldn't find clear answers even after reading the Users Guide extensively and quite a number of blogs (I do hope that a truly comprehensive User's Guide is in the works.)
