henry-in-florida
I'd like to set up a new client, but it is the same machine running a new OS. I'd like to test the installation and whether Retro will properly back it up and restore the client whilst keeping the existing backup. Is there a way to do this in Retro? Here's what I thought to try, perhaps there are some other alternatives? Make a new source/client in Retro (DIDN'T WORK Error -525 "ID Conflict") Backup to a different partition (DIDN'T WORK Error -525 "ID Conflict") Add a new IP to network settings for this client (DIDN'T WORK Error -525 "ID Conflict") Use another program (WORKED) Any other ideas? twickland
Retrospect uses a number of means to track client computers and will display the error you show when it detects that the client differs from the information it has in its Sources database. This happens most typically when the client software is reinstalled on a given client computer. The solution is to remove the client computer from the Sources list and then re-add it.
Maser
You can always install the engine on another computer and use that for your testing with that client -- I do that all the time.
