1965c4d1-fef2-4758-912a-20b3ae4ae729
I recently upgraded to 9.0 on the advice of a sales representative who extolled the changes from 8.2 to 9.0. Backing up 6 machines, 4 macs and 2 PCs over our network to an external drive connected to my iMac. Everything ran fine for the first back-up (manually started). After the first automatic back-up, I noticed that the windows 7 machine could not be found on the network and that the following error was recorded in the log : !Can't reserve backup client Windows7, error -515 ( Piton protocol violation). 11-12-08 4:13:44 PM: Execution incomplete Tech support says this is a known issue and the work around is a proactive back up. I am particularly pleased to have invested $279 in an update that is not much better than the 8.2 version that it replaces. Has anyone had any luck with a fix to this issue? twickland
Tech support says this is a known issue and the work around is a proactive back up. This workaround is the only solution until the bug is fixed. Or you could do what we did and revert back to v8.2.

These are all in a Proactive backup script. I am running 9.0.0.319. What gives???
gibsonm
This error post upgrade, generated my support request number: 1262852 Retrospect‘s “handling“ of that accelerated our evaluation and subsequent conversion to PresSTORE. Hopefully they come up with a solution for those who choose to stay.
