b7b9c539-89f4-45cb-9f58-21c90e3c10d3
I'm taking over the backup duties for a multi-room audio/video facility. Up to this point we've used multiple File Media Sets backed up to a 16TB Drobo system. We're getting close to capacity on that system and are ready to swap out the drives for a 24TB set. Since we are effectively starting over on a fresh set of drives I was also considering changing the Media Set type to Disk Media Sets. The manual seems to indicate they are the most flexible and it would eliminate the 1TB size limit issue we've had with the File Media Sets. I'm fairly new to Retrospect, so I wanted to confirm that that is the best course of action for our facility before I pull the trigger on swapping the drives and setting up the new media sets. Is there anything I'm overlooking? Cheers James
twickland
In Retrospect 8, there is little reason to prefer a File media set over a Disk media set and lots of reasons to prefer a Disk set. The only reason I can see for using a File set is if, for convenience's sake, you want the catalog and data to reside on the same volume.
