We have archives on LTO4 tapes, and when we restore some files or folders, Retrospect don't show which tape to insert. So we have to try the first one, the second one and so on. It's annoying when we have to insert 8 tapes until Retrospect find the data. I hope it's not the normal way to work with Retrospect 8.2. Any clues? Thanks alot!!! twickland
Retrospect don't show which tape to insert. Actually, it does. It's just not very obvious. Click on the Activities window and the Running tab. Highlight the restore activity. In the Overview pane at the bottom, the Status line in the Summary tab will show "Needs Media." Click on the "Choose media..." button and there's your answer. (No Overview pane? Click on the disclosure triangle at the bottom of the Activities window.) Admittedly, compared to Retro 6, which would simply put up a window asking for the correct media member, this is all kind of clunky. (Kind of the way the entire Retro 8 interface is at this stage in its development.)
