Reinstalling a client

I have a couple of client machines that I'm upgrading from Window 98 to XP. I'm not doing an upgrade, but wiping the disk and reinstalling. The reinstalled XP has the same machine name and the same IP address. Then I reinstall the Retrospect client software.


I'm discovering that Retrospect considers the reinstalled client to be a different machine. Scripts that refer to that name don't find the reinstalled machine and when I back it up, it backs up everything despite the fact that much of the content is already in the backup set.


Is there a way to reassociate the reinstalled Retrospect client with the old reference?
