Grooming performance. 3 days to groom set!!

Recommended Posts

I am trying to use disk grooming to improve performance over the recycle and complete backup protocol we currently use.

Retrospect Single Server 7.0.344; Update

We have two disk sets each about 600 Gb. After a series of backups I tried the grooming operation in the backup set properties window. As you can see it took a very long time...

Groomed 78.2 GB from Backup Set Backup Set - Lab.

Duration: 2 23:27:29 (00:52:44 idle/loading/preparing)

Almost 3 days is too long. It takes about 2 days to completely backup about 400gb data over the 100Mbit network from scratch. Grooming is occuring locally on the RAID5 array in the server so it should be faster IMO.

Any ideas, suggestions?
