Fails randomly when Maxtor OneTouch III write caching enabled

Initially I didn't believe my friend's note of a problem (who recommended purchasing Retrospect Professional 7.5, with latest update 7.5.285 installed from web). He noted that random write errors occurred for him until he disabled the write caching which is on by default for Maxtor OneTouch III (and OneTouch II) new USB 2.0 external drives.

I have verified my friend's claim -- that you *must* turn off the Maxtor write caching in order for Retrospect to work reliably. I am more disturbed by the lack of this being mentioned on this support web site as a Retrospect bug (with workaround), or at least a serious incompatibility issue with this popular brand of external drives, than by the problem itself.
