JLDavies
After working perfectly for months, when I try to back up my Windows XP C drive to a Maxtor OneTouch, using Retrospect 6, the operation aborts after a few minutes. The error message is as follows:- - " 12:09:35: Copying Drive C (C:) MapError: unknown Windows error 23 TPCFolderLocStartFind: UFindFirstFile failed, I:\Retrospect Backup\Backup copy of Drive C ©\Ancestors\Ancestors A-S\Chappel, John, winerr 23, error -1001 Scanning incomplete, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error) 12:11:26: Execution stopped by operator Quit at 20/03/2006 12:57" The offending file "Chappel, John" is one I deleted from my C drive several weeks ago. Does anyone have any ideas where I go from here?
paleolith
It sounds like Retrospect is trying to scan an I drive. Is that your Maxtor? If so, why is Retrospect scanning the I drive to back up the C drive? Do you by any chance have a folder on your C drive mapped to your I drive? Do you have an old copy of your C drive on the I drive in Windows-readable (as opposed to Retrospect) format? It's a guess, but it sounds like a file system error on the I drive. Possibly something like Norton Utilities might be able to fix it. Or you might be looking at reformatting the drive. Edward
