scorpius
Using Retrospect 4.3 on Beige G3 tower running system 9.2.2. Backing up Windows 98 clients who use Lotus CC:Mail and CC:Mobile for e-mail. Client versions are current. When using e-mail during backup, attempting to send message causes CC:Mail to lock up. This results in lost e-mail messages and unhappy users. As support tech am troubleshooting this for a client, getting information second hand at this point. Error, as reported by client, is something to the tune of "temporary space is full". Are there other forum members who use CC:Mail experiencing similar issues? AmyJ
There are no known conflicts between Retrospect and Lotus mail. That being said, Retrospect is a very system intensive program. It can take up a large amount of system resources. You should not have any other programs running during the backup. Mail files typically cannot be backed up while they are open. You may want to consider running the backup at night when users are not sending and receiving mail.
scorpius
Thanks for the follow up. I was pretty sure there is no direct conflict. However, the people having the problem are laptop users who are being backed up by a backup server. It watches for them throughout the day and snags them when it can. NT and 2000 users don't report having the problem, so I wonder if it's a memory management or temporary file issue.
