CD/XP Freeze ups

After a weeks worth of work. Retrospec Express is working. I have successfully completed:

 

 

 

Full Backup

 

Modified Backup

 

Test Restore

 

 

 

But I have run into a small problem with the CDs after they are written to by Retrospec Express. I inserted one of the CDs into the CD/ RW. The idiot light continuously blinked. When I tried to open Retropsec Express, and or any other application. Windows XP froze, as would any other input device ( Mouse/Keyboard ). This freeze up would last for approximately a minute, or 2. The mouse would then be usable, as well as Ctrl>Alt>Del. If I load Retrospec Express first. Then insert a CD, there is no problem that I can see at this point. Retrospec did freeze up a couple of times when I checked Devices.

HP Photosmart 1218 ( turned off )

 

Canon BJC 4000

 

HP 5100 ScanJet

 

 

 

OS = Win XP Home

 

 

 

Mostly all of the installed apps are standard ( Office 2000/Corel 10/Couple of Adobe Apps/McAfee/Couple of Symantec Apps ) There are no Development Tools installed on this PC.
