How disaster recovery works?

I have just received Retrospect Express with an external drive I bought.

I have a couple of simple questions.

1. If my hard drive dies can I restore my backup by reinstalling my OS and the Retropsect Software and then doing a restore of my most recent backup? Will the programs be registered correctly in the registry? Will I be able to see my backup sets on my backup drive even if I haven't made a disaster recovery CD?

2. Do I have to do anything special with my backups if I upgrade to Windows XP Professional? Can I just do a backup after the upgrade?

Thanks,

Charles

I am assuming you have Retrospect Express 6.0.222, which is what I am using.

Yes. Probably good idea to also install SP2 from disk if you have it

Yes and No

After an upgrade, you would be well advised to reformat your external HD and configure your backup sets, telling Retrospect to "forget" previous backups.
