sirandar
Symantec Antivirus 2005 Verify Errors and Autoprotect Windows XP Home using a Firewire External Hard Drive for Backup results in a number of File Time/date verify errors, 1-2 file content errors and some sharing violations in the Symantec directories. Disabling Symantec Antivirus autoprotect does not resolve these errors and on my system and causes the external HDD to lock up and causes a XP condition requiring a hard reset. Since the backup works with autoprotect ON this is not a big issue. Is there any way to prevent the Symantec errors. Antivirus 2005 isn't very convienient to unload completely before every backup. sirandar
Follow up: 1. ADS external hard drive requires Disk Caching to be turned off for completely reliable operation with Retrospect. 2. Ditched Symantec even though I have used them for a long time. Tired of not being able to exit Tired of the Nag Message when subscription due Tired of it hogging resources and slowing my system down Tired of how long it takes to scan BUT never had a virus infection get through so no complaints about that. Using NOD32 now... Way faster and you can completely unload it if you want to. Glenn
