vksmjones Posted January 27, 2005 Report Share Posted January 27, 2005 If I have advanced tape support (which I do), I should be able to have multiple backups that point to the same backup set running at the same time. I just switched from Veritas and had 1 backup set that included half the tapes from one library and half the tapes from another library. I pointed all of my jobs for week 1 to backup set 1 and Veritas would utilize all 4 tape drives at once backing up to the same set. At the end of the week I can pull those tapes out of the library. With Retrospect, I'm forced to divide the tapes up into at least 4 different sets and try and guess how many tapes will be used to backup each server and put the jobs together that are least likely to go over the amount of space available on the drives. I need this because I need my jobs to finish as quickly as possible and at the end of each week I must send tapes offsite. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
