Can't read Legacy DDS-4 tapes

Recommended Posts

Wierd One.Since installing Retro 5, I can no longer restore from any legacy DDS-4 tape.

DDS-2 and DDS-3 work Fine!!!! I can also write a NEW DDS-4 tape, and that one will restore back to the Hard drive OK. Even wierder - Retro 4.3 is behaving the same way. Restores will start, copy about 3 megs, and then just stop (the two activity lights - source and destination, just stop flickering). There is no error message, and this state continues until I tell the restore to stop (incomplete.) It's not crashing or freezing - just stopping. Same DDS-4 DAT drive I've been using flawlessly for a year with 4.3. Only device on the scsi buss. Same cord. Nothing else new installed or changed. I stand to loose 100 gigs of backups if this doesn't get resolved, so I'm concerned. Any ideas anybody? G4 Mac 733, 840 Ram, Sys 9.2.2
