Lennart_T
A backup's destination is always a media set. You mention "a second partition". That implies the destination is either a file media set or a disk media set. Which one is it. Or, perhaps you run a "duplicate"? But that is not a "backup" in Retrospect's parlance. What is Retrospect doing when this happens? Scanning files? Copying files? What? Have you run Apple's Disk Utility and repaired BOTH volumes? I question the visdom of putting a backup on the same media (= hard drive in this case) as the original. A backup should reside on a separate media, stored off site. Think fire, theft, flooding, etc.
