okamat Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 Hi, I have tried and tried but I can't find out how tell Retrospect Express 6.0 I have moved one major Source Volume (10Gbit) from one hard disc to another. Of course, I wish to continue to use/update the original Backup Set. Is this not possible? Help here would be much appreciated.
natew Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hi Its quite possible. You may need to open up your script under automate->scripts and change the the source volume. Retrospect will be remembering the old one unless you make that change. Thanks Nate
okamat Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hi Nate, Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, your advice is good, but I wonder if the program understands that most of the moved directory is backuped already -- or will everything be backed up again? I do not have that much space to play with, that's why I am concerned... Regards, okamat
awahle Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 In a similar case of a duplicate-type directory, it was removing the old version entirely from the backup disk and replaced it completely with a new version, even though the time stamps were identical. This kind of makes sense, actually, since Retrospect seems to keep track of the volume labels, thus your old files differ from the new files since they came from a different source.
okamat Posted October 5, 2004 Author Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hi, Very good, it solves my problem. Thanks a lot for your help. Regards, okamat
