Retrospect won't startup: PCVLDRV.DLL Error 630

I just installed Retrospect on my Win2K machine. At first everything seemed to be working. However, after I changed my Workgroup name I can't get it to run. I don't know if there is a correlation to the change itself. Just in case I changed the Workgroup name back to the old one with no luck.

When I try to start Retrospect I get an error message that says Retrospect may need to be reinstalled because it can't load PCVLDRVR.DLL and gives error code 630 (bad extension). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no change. I found one reference in the Knowledgebase to error 630 that suggested I replace my msvcrt40.dll file. No luck there either.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi

Are you installing Retrospect 6.5.350 from the Dantz updates site?

I would try this:

-Uninstall Retrospect and reboot the machine.

-Delete the Retrospect preferences folder c:\documents and settings\all users\Application data\Retrospect

-Reinstall Retrospect with 6.5.350

Thanks

Nate
