Erro 1102 drive missing/unreadable

I'm in the process of setting up my Maxtor OneTouch USB for the first time. I successfully installed the Onetouch and Retrospect 6.0 software that came with the drive. I *started* backing up and everything seemed fine. I did not complete the full backup, since I wanted to change some things. I'm not sure if the "onetouch" feature actually worked or whether I manually backed up.

 

I reformatted the OneTouch drive to NTFS support according to the directions in the Maxtor User Guide. Don't know if that had anything to do with my problem, which is:

 

When I use the OneTouch button, I get an "error -1102 drive missing/unavailable".

-Retrospect shows no backup devices available

-I can manually backup using Retrospect (is there a problem with the OneTouch canned script perhaps?)

-my computer sees the drive, and I can manually copy files to it

-I'm logged in as administrator so I should have appropriate permissions

-Using Windows XP SP-1

-I have uninstalled and re-installed the OneTouch and Retrospect software, with no change in the issue.

 

Thanks for your help! I'm ready to get this fixed and quit messing with it!
