felihopf Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Hi, I've been using my Maxtor regularly for a couple of months. Suddenly today when I tried to access the Maxtor in Windows Explorer, I got a message that the Maxtor drive is not formatted. Do I want to format it now. Help! I can't access the drive at all and am worried I've lost all of my backups. I tried installing the Maxtor on another computer which went OK, but it comes up with the same formating error. Also when configuring the one touch button it doesn't accept the product code. Would really appreciate any help Regards, Feli Hopf
natew Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Hi This is bad. If windows cannot recognize the disk it means there is damage or a problem somewhere. If the data is critical you should take the disk to a data recovery service without delay. If you can afford to lose the data you can try running disk utilities on your own. Sorry Nate
