bgiroux
I get the subject error message on a regular basis, for a QuickBooks file. I believe this is a result of the file being 'in use' or 'open', but I am not sure how to rectify the problem. This is a problem, since the financial data is definately something I would prefer to back up on schedule. I backup daily, and the QB file error occurs about 1-2 times per week. Does anyone get the same error on a regular basis? Has anyone figured out a simple way to deal with it? Thanks in advance- Brian.
natew
Hi The only way around this would be to make sure the file is not is use when the backup runs. If you are running windows XP you can upgrade to Retrospect professional 6.5. That will back up open files on the local machine Nate
Lindy
Does error 1111 (locked range conflict) mean that the file is open or in use? I noticed that error 1020 (sharing violation) indicates open files. I'm also getting error 1111 on an important file.
AmyJ
Locked range conflict is essentially the same as an error -1020. The file is 'locked' open by another program. Make sure the program is completely closed prior to backup. I've seen this in the past on my Outlook .pst files, despite Outlook appearing to be closed. Yet, when I looked at the running processes on my computer Outlook.exe was still running. Sometimes programs appear to be closed, but there are components still active as processes in the background because it didn't close out properly for whatever reason.
