Huw_1
I've searched for this failure but there were just too many results, and I couldn't narrow the search down. I'm using Version 5.6.132, Compaq Edition of RE Backup on Windows 2000 Professional, and everytime I erase a CD when in the middle of a backup (because RE needs an extra CD) and after RE has been erasing the CD for quite a while, it suddenly closes down and leaves this message:- Assertion failure at "cdru_base.cpp-1825". An internal consistency check failed. Detailed technical information on this problem is being written to the file "assert_log.utx". Restrospect will exit after this completes. I open RE again and I can then carry on backing up those files but I still have to wait ages while it erases that same CD, but this time it's OK. This happens everytime I need to erase a CD when in the middle of doing a backup, in other words, using RE to erase the CD. I can't remember definitely, but I think it also happens if the CD being erased was recording onto by RE itself. Has anybody got any ideas what's going on here? natew
Hi Make sure you have the latest driver update installed for Retrospect 5.6. What is your backup device as shown in the configure->devices->environment window? Does that window say ASPI or NT passthrough? THanks Nate
Huw_1
Goodness, I forgot all about this posting. Sorry Nate. Are you still there? In the window that you mentioned it states "Devices visible using NT passthough...". I don't know how to find out if I've got the latest driver. natew
Hi The Retrospect operations log shows the currently installed driver update version. You can get updates from the Dantz support updates page. Run the ASPIINST.exe utility located in the Retrospect program folder to see if that helps.
