franzerd
Hello I'm using retrospect 4.3 +adk (german)with an adaptec 39160 and a compaq autoloader dat 20/40. The device ist identified by retrospect as "tlx-10000". Computer is a G4/400 with 9.02 and asip (german). I've got the problem that retrospect cannot change tapes. Everytime I change a tape via device menu, the current tape is unmounted, the specified tape is mounted and -shortly after- unmounted again. Then the whole autoloader cycles all tapes and stops. If I manually mount a tape via the autoloader retrospect backup's happily away. From the other posts I get that retrospect has some problems with autoloaders. Is there a universal workaround for this behaviour or is it device-dependent? any suggestions would be helpfull thanks Franz Erdmann
CarrellWiers
I was just having the same problem with a Ultrium Autoloader. the problem went away when we downloded the latest free update from their website. Im not sure if it included German but I think so
AmyJ
The TLX-10000 is not on the Dantz supported device list. If you go to Configure > Devices > Device Status, what do you have listed for Vendor, Product and Version? If the Device Status window lists the drive as the TLX-10000, you will not be able to use it with Retrospect at this time. For a complete list of supported drives, please see: http://www.dantz.com/hardware
franzerd
thanks for the answer funny thing is: the compaq 20/40 is listed as supported, but identified in the device window as tlx-10000. Who is lying here?
AmyJ
The Compaq DAT 20/40 comes with different internal mechanisms. To list a few qualified mechanisms: TSL-10000 and SDT-10000. The TLX-10000 is not a drive mechanism that we have tested or currently support for use with Retrospect. The TLX-10000 may be what Compaq has now decided to ship with the 20/40 DAT drives. All drives need to be qualified by Dantz in order to ensure that they will properly backup your data.
