Automated jobs stuck "waiting now"

Recommended Posts

I have Jaguar Server 10.2.8 running Retrospect 5. It has been running fine. Now, however in the past couple of days the backups will initiate on time but not start -- it gets stuck with message "waiting now." I am going to try a reboot later today on the server but has anyone run into this?

I found out the problem. I am running Retrospect Server 5.032 on OS X 10.2 and backing up several windows clients. We had a power outage and one of the Windows clients shutdown. So I think Retrospect was waiting on this client even though the client had been turned back on and could be seen from Retrospect. Since I didn't need to back up the client anymore, I removed it from Retrospect and the jobs started working again.

Waiting now problem back. I tried deleting clients, etc. I think this has to do with daylight savings change. One of my clients reports as beeing out of synch with backup server by 1 hour even though the system clocks are the same. I will try a reboot of both.

Problem solved. The OS X backup client got out of synch with the OS X backup server. Rebooting fixed the problem.

The backup client's time could not be synchronized even though the computer time was identical. This means I will have to reboot these systems everytime time is adjusted for daylight savings time.
