gharnett
I am running an os x 10.2 server with retrospect 5.1 to perform backups. I needed to free space on one of the drives so I used the unix mv command to move a backup set and it's catalog. Now I cannot open the backup set. Anyone else had this happen and if so were you able to salvage the backup set?

Why not just use the Finder. It's a Macintosh, after all! "mv" does not copy a file's resource fork (if it has one). "cpmac" and "ditto" can move complete HFS+ file information. Retrospect needs type/creator information to be present in its files in order to recognize them (file extensions are not used in Retrospect 5). Now that you've already moved the files, use a utility such as Pathfinder to restore the Type/Creator info. Check the information on an existing, working file (noting that each particular sort of Backup Set (tape, file, etc) has a unique file type) and use that to update your moved files. I believe the Creator code of all Retrospect files is "PERY" but you should check for yourself. Dave
