Trouble reading files, error -1004 (Database Backup/Restore error)

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Can anyone please help with this one?

I am running Retrospect 6.5.319 on Windows 2000 Server SP4.

Retrospect is using the Open File and SQL add-ons.

I am trying to backup a Windows 2000 server running SQL 2000 server.

I receive the following error logs from the SQL server;

- 25/11/2003 11:25:21 PM: Copying Drive C (C:) on ****

T-49: MapError: unknown Windows error 999

T-49: TPCFolderLoccryrub.gifStartFind: UFindFirstFile failed, \\?\0:\XCApps\backup\webapps\xbase\temp\org\w3c\dom\events, winerr 999, error -1001

Scanning incomplete, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error)

- 25/11/2003 11:26:40 PM: Copying Support (D:) on ****

25/11/2003 11:26:40 PM: No files need to be copied

25/11/2003 11:27:50 PM: Snapshot stored, 1,009 KB

25/11/2003 11:27:57 PM: Execution completed successfully

Duration: 00:01:10 (00:01:08 idle/loading/preparing)

- 25/11/2003 11:28:31 PM: Copying SQL-VOL (F:) on ****

26/11/2003 12:20:23 AM: Snapshot stored, 106.4 MB

26/11/2003 12:20:38 AM: Execution completed successfully

Completed: 564 files, 183.2 MB

Performance: 646.4 MB/minute

Duration: 00:51:53 (00:10:39 idle/loading/preparing)

As can be seen - the client allows backup of ordinary volumes (apart from C:??) but not the SQL containers as seen below;

The name of the server has been removed to protect the innocent.

The SQL server is running the latest Retro Client.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thank-you kindly,

Hi Nate,

I have applied the update and re-added the SQL server client.

Using the existing RBU login, there was no issue logging into the SQL server.

I tried running the backup and had the same error.

The backup job can access the SQL server, it can identify the files in the containers, but at execution almost automatically fails.

I may try to create an SQL local administrator account and use it to login from Retrospect to rule out a login issue.

Is there anything else to try?

Thank-you kindly,

Dill
