After Restore - I can see the folder structure but not the outlook.pst

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I've attempted to restore my backup session. I chosed restore -> Select Files and Folders ->

I select the files to retore (outlook.pst 370MB) -> Destination (My Restore Folder at OSX). After restore, the log tells me that I'm sucessfully restored, then when I go to My Restore Folder, I can see the structure of the folders, but I can't see the outlook.pst (All folders appears except the outlook.pst). When I click Get Info on the My Restore FOlders, it tells me it is 370MB!!!! The log tells me restore "execution completed successfully".

I'm assuming the backup of session of outlook.pst was correct because 'the log' tells me "execution completed sucessfully" 370MB.

Hope you can shed some light.....

The file might be invisible, based on some Windows file setting that Retrospect (and Mac OS X) has continued to respect.

Try viewing the folder in Terminal (open Terminal, drag the folder from the Finder into the open Terminal window and press return. Then type "ls -l"

If the file is there you could try some utility such as Path Finder to modify its attributes so you can see it again.
