Checksum errors 24201

Recommended Posts

I am running Mac OS X 10.2.6 with Retrospect 5.1.175 on a PM 8600 400mz G3. When I do retrospect to file or retrospect to tape I get a checksum error. If I try to restore from the file then it give me a checksum error. Durring the backup the error occurs during the compression of the cataloge.

As a workaround, I restarted from OS 9.1 and recataloged the entire file and was able to restore. Not a fun proceedure since it was 8 gig of data.

Does anyone know what the issues are? I can be reached at wa @ ids.net

Can you provide additional details about your configuration?

- Make/model/interface of the tape drive

- Interface/format of the hard drive destination for the file backup set

- SCSI card make/model (if applicable)

- Any other applicable hardware configuration information (hubs, chained devices, etc.)

My configuration is as follows.

PowerMac 8600 Sonnet G3 400 mhz 448 meg ram.

1 scsi Archive tape drive

1 Usb card

1 Epson Scanner

1 Asanti Ethernet Card

1 Sonnet IDE card

1 40gig HD IDE

1 80 Gig HD IDE

1 18.3 Scsi

1 9 Gig Scsi

Epson C80 Printer

MacOS X 10.2.6

I have found that I don't get the checksum as much if I leave the cataloge uncompressed.

Regards

Jeff
