Retropect doesn't "see" drive

Recommended Posts

After updating to 10.2.8 (I'm assuming this is the culprit) Retrospect no longer detects the VXA-2f tape drive attached. Apple System Profiler still lists it on the Firewire chain, but Retrospect cannot find it.

I've "uninstalled" Retrospect with the "installer", re-installed the application and applied the update to bring it up to v5.0.238

I've run fsck in the single user mode.

It seems I've seen this problem before, but I don't remeber the fix.

Hi

Apple pulled 10.2.8 shortly after it was released. Is it available again? If you use the trial version of Retrospect 5.1 does the drive show up?

Does the device show up at all in the Retrospect device status window?

Some programs will rename the serialiofirewire.kext kernel extension. (I can't remember/find the exact name) You may want to chase this up with Exabyte or Dantz TS

Apple just "reposted" the update this morning. No change. Downloaded the Demo of 5.1 and there's no change. The manufacturer of the drive is Ecrix, they're extremely helpful. I'll give them a call.

I was going at from the stand point if the OS recognized the drive on the chain and Retrospect didn't the Retrospect was the culprit....
