Can I backup greater than 2 GB to a SAN

Recommended Posts

After months of trying to get Retrospect to backup to an overland library I have given up. I have bought a san box and am using it as an intermediate point for all of my backup data. There is a problem however. I am mounting the san as a network drive and moving backups to the san but I get an error that it cant backup more than 2gb to that device. It works fine if I backup to the xserve that Retrospect is running on. Does anyone have a workaround for this. 2gb is nothing.

I am using 5.0.238.

Thanks.

It's not about the device, it's about the protocol. AFP (AppleFileProtocol) can't transfer a file larger then 2 gig. This has nothing to do with Retrospect, other then that you've asked the program to use that protocol to try and write the large file over the network.
