How do we know if the snapshot is "hung" or still working? When I see "building snapshot" a stream of file names fly, they they stop. but the snap shot does not close. I check processor utilization for retropsect and it stays 1 percent of less for an hour. Can I assume the snapshot is hung? If it's hung what is the recovery proceedure?

In on instance this aparent hung state coincided with an exception to backup the registry, (out of resources message -1019). The server is not out of resouces. These are issues with 6.5 which were not issues with 6.0. I would like to see some information about snapshots on this newsgroup. thank you..

Well, I can answer half my based on this example. After 30 minutes of aparently nothing happening, the process or was nearly idle, the snapshot closed.

How can we know if a 1 hour snapshot is hung or still running?

The length of time snapshots are running halfing our backup throughputs. Any information or improvements we can make is a very important goal. Thanks henry christle
