You could have two tapes with the same name if:

-There was a fatal error when writing to the first tape (after being named) and Retrospect went on to the next tape

-You ran a recycle backup and used a blank tape instead of reusing the first member

-You had an older backup set with the same name

Move the tapes into the drive slot. The tape with the black 'M' next to the name indicates it is a member of a known backup set. If the tape has a gray "M" it is not part of a known backup set. Retrospect looks at the creation date of the tape to determine whether or not it belongs to the existing set.

I think this answer also hold true:

-Preferences>Media>Erasure: "Automatically reuse named media" is NOT selected wink.gif
