ArtChris
I am running a Mac G4 with OSX 10.2.6. I installed a new Pioneer Atapi DVD-RW DVR-106D and have updated my Retrospect (now running version 5.1.167) and installed the latest driver update (4.0). I had been backing up my system with a remote Firewire Iomega Peerless 20GB removable. My goal was to continue to use the Peerless unit as my primary (first) unit, then use a DVD+RW disc when the Peerless unit was full. My problem is that when the backup runs and is ready to continue with a second media Retrospect does not see the DVD+RW disc even though I, previous to running the backup script, ran the Configure and blanked the disc. The configuration process seems to run perfectly. Once done the unit does appear in the list of media available but when I then run the backup script and it comes time to use the DVD+RW disc it does not appear in the window of available media. As a test I created a new backup script using the DVD+RW as the first unit (configured it, named it, and wrote to it) and it does work properly. So, my question is can I not use a DVD+RW disc that is configured with Retrospect as a second media when the first media is a different type? (ie: The Iomega Peerless as the first unit, the DVD+RW as the second media).

You could mix different Removable volumes (Peerless, Zip, DVD-RAM, etc); but not CD/DVD, Tape, etc. Dave
ArtChris
Thanks for your reply Dave. Frustrating news but at least I now know what the problem is.
