Quantum DLT1 compatibility with OSX

Recommended Posts

i'm running

OS X jag

Quantum DLT1

Retrospect 5.0.2

Powerdomain 2930 scsi adapter

Retrospect configuration sees the tape drive and begins the process of backing up but then the computer freezes and prompts to hold the power button to restart the computer. Did you run into this problem, do you have a solution?

The tape drive backs up fine in OS 9.2 but does not work in X... what's up?!!?!?

Thanks, Chris

Quoting from the referenced article:

Code:

Mac OS 10.2.1 and 10.2.6 (Jaguar)

Supported Adapters

Adaptec

PowerDomain AHA-2930CU

And, since I am using one of these cards, I know it works very well with Retrospect 5.0.238, Mac OS X 10.2.6, and all the other latest software drivers and components.

Now I notice that Chris is using Retrospect 5.0.2. I suggest updating to the latest Retrospect, and also be sure everything (!) else is up to date. I experienced hangs with prior versions of the software that have all disappeared with the current latest versions.

If that does not work Chris, come back with lots more details of your configuration, both hardware and software.

so according to the posted article the powerdomain 2930cu is a tested and approved scsi card.

i am using OS 10.2.6, i have updated the drivers for the scsi card via updates from adaptec, and retrospect is 5.0.238. as far as i am aware, all software is current.

what further details will help to identify why my computer hangs once it starts the process of backing up?
