msibley
I may have found a bug. A folder of documents was inadvertantly deleted from our server. I have a backup set with 9 sessions. The folder is contained in several of the earlier sessions but not in the most recent (because it was deleted). When doing a search for the folder name, it would not find it. (I paniced) When I went to options I found the option to "Select only the most recent version and not search through all sessions". I thought this would be the ticket to success, but even though it SHOULD have found the folder when the box was unchecked (from several of the older sessions) and NOT find it if it was checked (when only looking at the most recent session) IT DID NOT FIND THE FOLDER NO MATTER IF THE BOX WAS CHECKED OR NOT! The good news is that I was able to find and recover the folder by manually adding the snapshot (session) and telling it to get it from there, but the reason that I would not let this die is that the program should have found the folder inthe older session (snapshot) since it was contained in the backup set and the box was unchecked. Therefore, the search for feature is totally unreliable....
natew
Hi This is a known weak point in the folder search function. It is however the way that Retrospect is supposed to work. It has to do with the way that Retrospect manages folders. File name searches do not suffer from this problem. The short answer is Snapshots are designed to allow you to restore folders from any point in time. The work around you came up with is actually the correct way to do it.
