jbuecker
Hi, I am troubleshooting error 'Assertion check at "elem.c-817"' on an xserve. Here are the parameters: - Xserve running Retrospect Workgroup Backup version 5.0.238 - OS X SERVER version 10.2.6 Doing a Duplicate volume to an external fire wire drive on the Xserve. The error occurs every time during the "scan" phase. Based upon my research here, I suspect I might have a file name with what would be considered a "strange" character. My Question: What are the standard ascii characters that ARE NOT supported via retrosprect? for example would the follwing names be ok ?: "test/123" , "test*" , "test\" , "test?" Thank You In Advance, Jason Buecker
natew
Hi I take it from your post that you are duplicating the internal drive on the Xserv to the firewire drive? I would try new preference files to start. If the problem is indeed a file name you can narrow it down by defining the folders on your Xserv drive into subvolumes and duplcating them one at a time until you find the problem folder. Make sure all of your drives are formatted HFS+ Retrospect does not support UFS. Nate
