jswingchun
I have an Xserve running OS X server 10.2.6 Retrospect 5.0.238. I have a Dell PowerVault 132T tape library attached. I have erased and named 12 tapes in the library. When I go to Configure>Devices and click on "Loader" the 12 slots show they have media in them. If I select the "Scan Media" button, all the tapes load and then the slots all show up with "erased" next to the slot number. After doing a scan, shouldn't that show the name of the tape? Does Retropect have to learn the tape name by reloading the tape every time? I know the tapes are named because when I look at the left side of the devices window, the drive shows it has a tape in it, and the name is correct. The only way I can check the name of a tape in a slot is to load it into the drive, which takes a long time. What is the function of the "Scan Media" button? Is it supposed to learn the names of the tapes and remember them until the next time you scan media?
jswingchun
I figured this one out. If I name the tapes with the the erase function, they don't show up by name in the loader menu. If I let Retrospect name the tapes, the loader menu shows them properly.
