Coop
On backing up my Dell Demension 4400 hard drive to a Cue external hard drive with Express 5.5., I routinely get thousands of 1101 errors that typically read as follows: File "C:\System Volume Information\_restore{21D7D692-4662-421F-93B0-877BC3820711}\RP526\A0060608.lnk": can't read, error -1101 (file/directory not found) The specific file names are different, of course, but nearly all of them start with the path: C:\System Volume Information\_restore. The last backup had over 6,000 of these errors. Retrospect is set to back up all files except cache files and to "recycle backup." Any ideas about what's causing such a huge number of errors? Thanks. natew
Hi Retrospect 5.5 was not designed for windows XP so I think it is trying to backup files that should be excluded - specifically the system restore data. I would remove this folder from your backup or try a trial version of Retrospect 6.5. I suspect the files will not be a problem with the latest Retrospect version. Are both drives formatted with the same file system? Nate
Coop
Thank you for the reply, Nate. Yes, the drives are both formatted as NTSC. You're probably right about 5.5 not being designed for XP. Grr. I haven't had the external drive that long. Hate to pay for a pricey upgrade. That's progress, I guess.
