bmswalla
I have a large (32GB) backup set on DVD-RW that timed out during the comparison step (I was simply away from the machine and could not swap discs). My only option to check the data now appears to be the "Verify" command that simply determines whether the files in the set are readable. However, this does not ensure that they are identical to the files on my hard disk. My question: Is it possible to reinitiate the comparison step? This seems like it would be a simple thing to do. Must I rewrite the entire backup set simply to confirm that the files are correct?
natew
Hi, Running a "Verify" on the backup set will make sure the files on your disks match the files in the catalog file. You can then run another normal backup and Retrospect will compare the contents of the verified catalog to what is on your hard disk. Retrospect will backup any new/changed/different files at that point so you should be fine. Nate
