I am unable to backup to my Firewire CDRW drive. The message I get is "No Disk storage devices found" What should I do to be able to back up files to my CD's? I'm running OS 10.1.3 on a G4/400.

Just reread your post and realized that you've created a Removable Disk backup set. If the drive is supported, try creating a new backup set and be sure to choose CD/DVD as the type. If it's still not showing up, what version of Retrospect are you using?

I've got a very similar problem. I'm using a new LaCie 8/4/32 combination USB/Firewire CD-RW drive (CDBP-321040A) and I've got it connected to one of my two firewire ports on a Blue & White Mac G3/400. I'm running OS 10.1.3. I've been able to burn CD-Rs using iTunes but when I run the recently released version 5 of Retrospect (5.0.203) it doesn't seem to recognize my media. The drive shows up under Configure/Devices and shows that it is ready to burn my data, buy when I try to run the backup it rejects my media and says the content is unrecognized and asks for another disk. I'm making a CD/DVD backup set. I've tried both CD-R and CD-RW discs (several of each) and have tried erasing the CD-RW discs.

I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or the drive is not yet supported. The Dantz knowledebase seems to show it as supported.

My firmware is version 2.41 and the driver is LaCie CD-RW 1.50.

I am still unable to back up directly to my LaCie burner. I have no problems using Toast or iTunes to burn CD's but Retrospect does not work. Here is what I am using:

OS 10.1.3

Retrospect 5.0.203

Maybe I'm doing the backup wrong? I've been using Retrospect since the late '80's and early 90's. Please advise step by step how I should backup my Home directory to CD.

Thanks!!
