JEC
Retrospect 5.0.238 Mac G3 running OS X 10.2.6 "Trouble matching folder Users on Volume Statup to Set Local, error -24043 (unknown)" Does anyone know tha cause, & preferably the solution, to the above error message ? The Users folder is the local Users directory folder on the OSX Mac running the backup. The destination set, 'local', is on a second HD on the Mac. The catalog is being seperated out also which may be a related symptom. The backup set is unusable, error -24043, and cannot be verified. "Couldn't load seesion tree, error -24043" "Couldn't verify 11,661 files due to missing or incompatable media" At this point I have to execute a recycle backup which is OK for a few days until error "-24043" comes back again. natew
Hi there, I would try creating a new set and manually separating the catalog from the start. Is the backup set a particular size when this error occurs? Is sounds like Retrospect is having trouble accessing the data on the secondary drive- can you try saving a test set on the primary drive to see if the problems continue? JEC
Hi Nate, I have about 20 other sets that backup either mac OS9 machines or Win2k PC's. Each machine has it's own pair of backup sets that I alternate weekly and *Refresh* monthly. It seems to only be the set's that backup the *Users* directory on the Mac OSX machine running Retrospect that has this problem. James
natew
Hmmmm As a test you can try: Throwing away the separated catalog and rebuilding it from scratch. Using a new set of preferences for Retrospect. Backing up another folder on the mac and seeing if the problems continue. let me know what you find Nate
JEC
Hi Nate, Sorry have been off work last few days. Have recycled the local backup sets and left them with seperated catalogs and Retrospect seems to be happy. Will leave it like that for a month and see if it remains stable then may try recombining the catalogs and seeing what happens. James
natew
Hi Don't try to combine your catalogs!!! Separate is best- otherwise you are limited to a 16MB catalog file. Nate
